This is very odd. This is very simple step. But this step does not want to accept config values.

possible differences
I don't use localhost -- mysql.sitename.com
looking at the handbook docs --- the example shows database type with checkboxes
I never see this option

sifaan commentedIs the issue here that it keeps looping back to the database settings page, even when the correct settings are entered?
I was using a non-localhost mysql server, and this was happening to me... problem was that I had renamed (instead of copied) default.settings.php to settings.php

green monkey commentedI have since reverted to 5.10... silly me I needed the Cart anyway - and 5.x is the safe path for that.
I did however also rename via FTP instead copying as mentioned above.
