During the OSCON in Amsterdam, Drupal people will come together and discuss the current state and future of Drupal. To gain as much attention as possible, we need the help of graphical artist and creative copyrighters. In case you care about Drupal and want to contribute something else apart from code, handbook pages or money, please fire up your favourite word processor and/or paint program and help us out.
We have three categories for you to choose from:
- A spotlight banner for drupal.org. This one will be on the homepage of drupal.org in the upper left corner like the newsletter banner;
- One or more banner(s) that people can place on their own sites;
- A funny text for on a T-Shirt and preferably a mock-up to see what the result will look like.
Feel free to submit your work to this post, the more the better. We as a community –with Dries as the Ultimate Decisionmaker will choose who will win. There are however some rules: all your work must be free of copyright and hence may not include any copyrighted materials. So if you include a picture of windmills for the banner, that picture must as well be copyright free. The spotlight banner has to be 200 by 221 big and must fit in the style and colours of the current spotlight banners. The format must be PNG and can contain no animation.
The banner for people to place on their own Drupal site must have a standard banner size. Choices include leaderboard (728 x 90), full banner (468 x 60) , half banner (234 x 60), microbar (88 x 31) and skyscraper (120 x 600). Feel free to make animated banners if you think this ads value and use any color at will.
The last category is the text for a t-shirt. It is preferred to have only one side printed and in one colour. It might contain a Drupal logo and something (creative!) with the Netherlands or the OSCON. Letting the DrupalIcon smoke something isn’t considered creative. See an example of a shirt for the OSCON that was held in Portland.
Now its time to help us out, be creative and upload your pictures here or use inline tags to your images. Everlasting glory and a t-shirt for the winner and runners-up!

Here's one concept...
This is based around DRUPAL written the same way as OPEN is on O'Reilly's EuroOSCON Prospectus (PDF, 724K). Obviously there is some work still needed to create the formats specified, but figured I'd post here first to see if there was any interest.
Just the overall concept (default Druplicon logo with DRUPAL text):
Concept (PNG, 8 K)
A poster that incorporates some Amsterdam scenery (royally-free photo from sxc.hu):
Poster (PNG, 413 K)
Here's another...
Another t-shirt design, this one is based off the Amsterdam flag:
Drupal Flag (PNG, 3K)
I apologize in advance if this type of design is considered offensive, that's definitely not my intent. :(
nice
a slogan like "kisses from amsterdam, oscon 2005" might complete it?

Ha, ok!
Try this one:
Flag with Kisses (PNG, 7K)
I haven't done any of the other types of graphics because I was kind of holding out to see what the reception would be like for the concepts. I'll start doing up some with this design, though.
Question: Is it possible to get a list of where some of the past spotlight banners are, so we can try and gear them all towards the same general 'style'?
but but
all very nice (i like the poster), but none can be uses in the formats as asked? could you try to create a spotlight image as well (upper left on homepage drupal.org)?

Spotlight Logo
1st try at a Spotlight Logo. Let me know what you think. I put a couple of other colours in as well as blue shades....the couple I've seeen have all been bluish - I can change the non-blue colours to black if you want ;-)
good start
i should have mentioned, no dykes, no weed, no tulips, no windmills :-)
I dont like the colors, to may that dont blend in with the drupal colors. and they fonts dont fit in I think. as a last point, how can we incorporate the logo better in the picture. it is now something thats stands alone i think...

I couldn't find the Drupal
I couldn't find the Drupal font hence using Arial for readability. Not sure how to incorporate the logo better. I will have to think on that.
As for the windmills - you mentioned those in your top blurb! ;-) Oh well, even if you don't like it, here's a banner set that I completed before reading your reply.
cool
i'll have to say, seeing the bunch of them, extreme cool. Two points:
1) I think the 3d logo drupalicon wil fitt better
2) I still dislikle the colors. maybe do it in blue-ish and it will rock!
note: in the node is some information about the font as well.

Okay. So the font actually
Okay. So the font actually is of the FF Max family? That's a shame as it seems you have to buy it. If anybody ends up liking this I can hand over the original psd's to someone who already owns it and they can change the font.
Just for you Bert here's a boring blue version ;-) I've linked into a smaller version of the image because the file size was getting larger so it you want to see it without the artifacts view the original size.
I haven't bothered to swap the druplicon's on the other banners. If there's any interest to see them then I'll do so.
So restrictive
Well, there are other things that Amsterdam is famous for....
I like the windmills :-)

Try these...
I was thinking the poster could be a possible t-shirt, but it'd probably be really hard to copy it to a shirt and have it turn out nice (especially without spending beacoup $$$).
Here are some banners instead as specified, incorporating the Amsterdam flag:

AND WE HAVE A WINNER
This one made it to the frontpage of drupal. Thanks for your work webchick and somehow I am sure you'll get your drupal t-shirt.
All other people, thanks for your work, some real nice stuff. If it wasnt for this positive discrimination, you would have won :-)
And remember, you are free to get a copy of the banner in any of the fomats to display on your own site, just use your own bandwith for that.
Once again, thanks all and another plus for you webchick.

Wow!! :D
Thank you so much!!
Just an update...
The banners have been updated to reflect the new name, "Drupal Conference." You can get them from the same URL:

Hope this means you're coming to Amsterdam, webchick!

Sadly, no...
Sadly, no... I looked into it but a flight to Amsterdam alone is waaaayyy beyond my budget right now, not even taking into consideration lodging, food, and admission into OSCON. :( Maybe for 2006?
Another Idea
Here is another concept.
Pehuen's concept

Nice but ...
I think this one is quite nice, altough I doubt many people will get the 3 crosses. I haven't heared of them until this thread so I'm afraid it might be too subtle a reference ...
Here is my attmept
http://www.webschuur.com/node/207
The three druplicons must be replaced with the three identity drulpicons. The grassroots, education and corporate drplicons. Fro that, i need a vector or hiores version of these druplicons.

if you dont like the choices being made for you, you should start making your own.
