I used the contact form on groups.drupal.org to express my concern about the loading box that appears in the top right corner when writing a comment, Moshe directed me to this module.
I can't think of any reasonable reason (for lack of a better phrase) for the loading message to appear as you're writing a post, it tends to appear just as you pause to think about what to write next, consequently interrupting your train of thought and slowing you down. I've noticed the more I use the comment form the less of a distraction it becomes, but it still continues to be an annoyance.
I don't think it should be made more subtle, rather that it be removed altogether. Although it could still be useful for reporting an error.
This patch removes the 'success' notification and keeps the error in tact.

I'm relatively new to Drupal Groups and can say for certain that I will *not* be able to participate there unless this absurd travesty of a feature is removed. Are we trying to induce seizures or what?
At this 'feature' does is screams "Hey everyone look at me! I'm using AJAX! Aren't I teh awesome?"

lol i agree.
It was like similar to Gmail's, at that time. If anyone wants to contribute, I want to remove that loading box altogether and put the throbber in action next to the Preview/Save button.

As for the throbber, the code for it lies in early 5.x code. Checkout cvs repo. Patches welcome!
