I teach at a high school and a former student set up our site. It has worked fine for years, but all of a sudden we got this message:
Unable to connect to database server go to www.lincoln.pps.k12.or.us to view the entire message.
Is the problem with the server where our site resides? Hopefully the school district didn't make any changes to their server without telling us.
Thanks.....

It seems like the server administrator changed or removed the database for your drupal installation.
Try to contact this administrator and ask him what the reason is that you cant connect to the database.
Hope he just changed the login for your user and if so get the new login and change the config file so it matches the new login.
If he deleted the database hire some HUGE guys who can beat him up badly ;)
Just kidding.
Seems like the problem isn't within drupal but at the server so contact the administrator and ask what the problem is :)

I was told by our IT department (server administrator) that they don't know anything about drupal.
Could you give me step by step directions to give to the IT department so that we can get our site up and running.
I appreciate all your help.....
