I translated all of the /filter/tips text into Italian and then the whole page broke...as if there was some unclosed div. The page suddenly went about 3000px wide.

so I thought I'd made a mistake copying what is a very big chunk of text...so then I copied the original into the translation text box without changing a single thing, and it still came out broken. Never seen that before in any module.

any ideas?

I'm not sure how to address this. Can you try some of the other translations and themes to see what happens? How about D6?

This was so long ago, I have no idea what I did to resolve it in the end or what the problem was. I wasn't using "translations" per se via the translation system. I just pasted into the text box what my friend had translated for me. So using other languages wouldn't change anything. As I say, even pasting the original text into the string change textbox resulted in a problem. I think the issue might have been the quote tags but it was six months back and I've since worked on about 2000 other problems on my site. :-)

sorry to have been of no help. I'm pretty sure I resolved it pretty quickly, otherwise I would have come back and nagged you about it. If I were you, I'd go through all the tips text with a fine tooth comb checking for unclosed quote tags as the page going out to 3000px would signify that being the cause. Good luck.

That section got an overhaul today... so if there were issues, they should be gone.
