I'm looking for someone to develop a module for a news portal we're developing. Basically, I want to be able to organize Articles by category (World News, Economy, Sports, Culture, etc.) and then be able to order them by weight. The ordering would be done through drag and drop. The articles would then show up ordered by weight in blocks based on their category on our homepage. We would also need a 'category' page that would list off all published articles for that category over the last 7 days.
Anyway, if you're interested, please fire me off a message. We're looking to get this done fairly quickly.
Thanks,
Jason Lavigne

have you tried the
have you tried the http://drupal.org/project/nodequeue? it pretty much does what you want but without the drag and drop. it might be easier/faster/cheaper to sponsor adding drag and drop to this module.

I'll definitely take a look at Nodequeue, thanks a bunch for the suggestion. I can't believe I actually missed the module when I went through them all last month... I'll chalk it up to information overload heh.

Hi Jason
I did similar type of functioning for http://newsx.com which is a news portal. You can drag and drop any item from home page. besides this all the ordering will be saved and whenever user or anonymous user open the same site again, it will be visible as per the last settings.
If you are interested then let me know. I would like to work with you.

Hi,
Could you tell me what module did you use for this? Or when you build a custom module, would it be possible to distribute it back to the drupal community?
