It'd be cool if the permissions summary below the transitions checkboxes automatically updated as you were going through checking things. As it is you have to save the form first and then go back and look.

At the very least, maybe it ought to not show up at all until you've submitted the form at least once.

This request hasn't seen any follow up in over 3 years. If you still want to see something like this please open a new request for Drupal 7 with some well defined specs for implementation and I'll take a look.
