Issue Summary

First, let me explain my situation / setup / goals.

My FAQ items are organized by topic using a category.
I have enabled the the category block to allow users to link to the category of their choice.

I am using FAQ_ask module to allow users to submit questions for the site owner to answer. This is probably why my needs are slightly different than most standard FAQ users.

Ok, So what I'd really like to do is have the main FAQ page display an uncategorized list of FAQ items so that the newest questions display at the top, and have the category block available for users who want to see more questions within a specific category. It would be n added bonus if this "recent FAQ" list could have a pager because over time, the list of questions is going to grow to be very big.

Currently I am using view to create the list of Recent FAQ items (which covers adding paging capability) but I imagine that other FAQ users might also like to be able to have a similar setup with Recent FAQ items on the FAQ home and be able to browse the categories separately.

There are two way that I can see doing this:

  • Recent FAQ Block - Provide a block for "Recent FAQ's" which just lists the X (configurable by user on the block admin page) most recently added/published FAQ items. I'd think that it would be ok to have the same "page layout" as set on the Questions tab.
  • Uncategorized Layout - provide an additional option under "Categories layout" on admin/settings/faq/categories.

The text could say something like "Don't display categories on the main FAQ page. (Use this option if you want users to navigate the FAQ categories using the FAQ Categories Block)"
