This sounds really cool. If someone wants to create a patch to implement this, please do. I think there are other pressing issues with this module. I'll mark it postponed for now, because this might be an idea worth investigating in the future.

Closing due to a lack of continued interest. It sounds like a cool feature though. I have a feeling this will be more automatically supported by some core API at some point, though.
