That module's project page is screaming for a maintainer to help: http://drupal.org/project/vote_up_down
There are tons of users who already use vote_up_down and will be stranded because they don't know to look for this one.
Since this module is for 6.x only, why not take over the module and put your code in a DRUPAL-6--1 branch?

We talked about taking it over, but vote_up_down does a lot more than offer a widget.
We should provide some kind of upgrade path though. The idea is very much to be the successor to vote_up_down.

Is it updown just a widget or does it offer integration with other parts of drupal?

Hi everyone
I don't know if anyone here has noticed or not but Vote Up/Down has a proper D6 compatible release now. I have published a beta1 and hope to smash out some more points before a final release (even though the beta1 works fine right now.)
I'd really like it if these 2 modules are merged into one. At least there's one feature in updown.module that I have to include in vote up/down. That's the random token that's added to each URL to prevent fake votes. Can we discuss a merger? I'd have no problems in giving the commit access to the maintainers of updown.module. The people here have way more experience than me and that will benefit in the long run :-)
