I keep coming accross an unpleasant problem with my Drupal + eCommerce installation. The pruchase policy is set to "Registered only" (I only want to sell stuff people with verified e-mail addresses). When I make my selection as anonymous and check out, I am asked to register/log in. When I do, I get the message that my shopping cart is empty and that I can continue shopping in the shopping catalog.
When I make my selection registered and check out, everything is OK.

I tried to switch the purchase policy to "flexible". Now I cam make my selection as anonymous, log in, and successfully checkout as registered.
However, when I decide to carry on anonymously, I am asked for my shipping and billing addrss twice. I have found out the only the first screen is valid, any stuff entered into the second (superfluous screen) is ignored.
Anyway, I would like to use "registered only" pruchase policy.
I started with a clean installation
of Drupal and eCommerce. The problem appeared as soon as I changed the purchase policy to "Registered only". In such a case the newly registered user is not asked for anything and the checkout process fails immediately with "You shopping cart is emty ..."message. It works corretly with flexible purchasing policy.
The weird thing is that setting the purchasing policy to "flexible" does not help for my real store. Also the shopping cart is displayed in a different way for an anonymous user - it dos not list items, but there is a link "View your cart" instead.
I do not know what is going on.
No
I just can't get the "Registered only" purchase policy running. It looks as if the newly registered user did not have an access to the personal contact form, but later he can make apurchase and check out successfully. I hava also tried to assign all possible permissions evento anonymous users with no help. I am really confused.
For God's sake
could anybody answer me?
I am simply unable to set up registered purchase policy. I tried to follow the simple instructions on www.drupalecommerce.org, but with no success.
I can't believe that nobody else has this problem.
I come accross it so early in the building of my site that other must have the same problem. Please, let mi know if you have an ecommerce site with functional "registered only" purchase policy.

Have a look at http://drupal.org/node/299056#comment-1000579 where I've added a comment about a similar problem, when updating from Drupal 5.7
