Hello everybody, I have read the different support pages, but the module doesn't function for me.
Can you please give me the main steps to follow in order to made it function? What are the different settings, the different paths to configure in the flash video settings?
It will be very kind because I really want to use this module.
Thanks.

The best advice I can give you is to first go through my tutorial at http://www.travistidwell.com/flashvideo ....

If that doesn't work, then go to http://www.travistidwell.com/troubleshooting_flashvideo ...

If that doesn't help, then come back here and tell me where you are stuck. Just saying the module doesn't work is pretty vague.

Thanks,

Travis.

hello travist, I have followed the different steps of your pages. I have installed ffmpeg and I have placed the folder with the drupal directory (root). In sites/default/files directory , I have created 3 folders :
input directory (which corresponds to original directory)
output directory
and video_import directory.
In this directory, I have placed the dash player swf file, and changed the name to Player.swf.
I have enabled flash video for the page content.
Whan I create a page, the upload section appears at the top of the page.
I upload a video (flv file), the gif is animated, but when I seek for this video within the files directory, it doesn't appear.
I run a cron task manually. Then I see the page, but "video currently not available" appears.

I don't know if it's an error of paths. In the settings, for original directory I have filled in "input/", for
output directory, I have filled in "output/" as the root is the files directory in the settings. And for the path to ffmpeg, I have filed in "http://localhost/ffmpeg/".
When I upload the video, normally, she has to appear in the files directory isn't it? FFmpeg is it necessary when I upload a flv file?

Can you give us more informations on the process of this module : I think that when you attach a video, it has to appear in the input directory within the files directory, then when you perform a cron task, this video is changed to a flv file and appears in the output directory. And to make it function, you have to install ffmpeg in root of the website and the player.swf in the files directory. Can you tell me if this interpretation is right please? As I told you, I have tested different paths in the settings, but it doesn't function. Thanks to everybody who can answer the former posts and this one.

ideal93,

This is really something that I would have to actually SEE your setup in your site to figure out what is going on. Do you have a domain that I can take a gander? I am curious what is causing your issue.

Thanks,

Travis.

Hello Travis, you can't go to my website as it's not online : I am still working on it.
I have wamp installed. So "C:\wamp\www" is my root directory. (It corresponds to http://localhost/)
"C:\wamp\www\drupal" is the directory where I have installed my website. (It corresponds to http://localhost/drupal/)
"C:\wamp\www\ffmpeg" is the directory where the ffmpeg.exe is.
"C:\wamp\www\drupal\sites\default\files" is the files directory. In this folder, I have created the input, the output directories, and I have placed the Player.swf .

In the different settings, I have provided those different links. Can you tell me what paths you would set ?

travist’s picture

Everything should be with respect to Windows paths....

FFMPEG path should be: C:\wamp\www\ffmpeg\ffmpeg.exe
Output directory should: C:\wamp\www\drupal\sites\default\files\output
Inport directory: C:\wamp\www\drupal\sites\default\files\video_import

etc...etc...

Also keep in mind that Windows is very awkward when trying to get this module to work locally. I have done it before, but that was after I had to mess for hours with the paths and such. I can't remember what I did to get it to work.

Let me know if you need any more help.

Travis.

Ok travis, thanks first for your reactivity, it's very kind !! For the different paths, instead of setting the windows paths, I have set the weblink paths "http://localhost" instead of "C:\wamp\www\". I will test those different paths and tell you more about this.
Thanks!!

I have tried the new paths, but it doesn't work yet. In the different posts, I asked you about the process of the module : when you upload a file, it has to appear in the files directory, isn't it? It's the first step isn't it? I have not validated this step. I think that this file has to appear in the input directory within the files directory, and then it's converted to a flv file, and is placed within the output directory, after running the cron task. It's what I think, can you tell me please if it's ok or not?
Thanks Travis.

The problem is that when I upload a file, there is no video attached, nothing happen after the gif is animated. What can be the reason why no file is uploaded? How can I resolve this problem?
Thanks.

Anyone can reply me please?????

Your issue may not be associated with FlashVideo module. It may be a problem with your server configuration - as you have indicated previously, you were having trouble configuring Drupal on your windows-based server.

Why don't you try uploading something with the core upload module and see if anything gets attached?

Also, do you have Clean URL's enabled? It's a bit troublesome to do so on a Windows IIS but much easier on Apache.

ideal93’s picture

I had no problem with configuring drupal. Furthermore, the core upload module functions normally. I have spoken about flash video module only, with the different settings of paths for ffmpeg. With flash video, there's no files uploaded inside files directory. I want only someone to explain me how to configure the different paths with windows, or how the module concretely functions. Indeed, in the different support pages, even in the home page module, there's no explanation of the process of the module.
Thanks.
