Sign Building Module or something that could be modified to be a sign building module

I'm wanting to add a feature where a customer could basically build their own sign sort of like what is on buildasign.com
I'm new to Drupal and have been amazed at how code free the development can be and for this Sign shop (My wife's company), I'm about 80% done.
I was hoping that there was a drupal module or php library that comes close to doing what we need. Maybe something that calls the imagecache api, etc.
Anyone seen any projects that come close to this functionality?

If you 're looking for a PHP library, then you'll need to take a look at GD.
