Can the left column appear to the left of the content while keeping the content first in the HTML?
Can the left column disappear when there are no blocks in the column?
Also, the right column does not disappear when I do not place blocks in the right column, something that is mentioned in the theme description.
I am trying this theme on a site where a small number of pages will be 1 column, most will be 2 with the left column on the left, and some will be three columns with left, center, right. The content has to be first in the output. I am happy to try a subtheme for each variation.

JohnForsythe commentedThe far-right column doesn't actually stop taking up space, but it should look empty (and generally unnoticeable, except at 800x600) if nothing is assigned there. It could be made to shrink, but it would complicate the design. The same is true for moving a column to the far left. It can be done, but the code becomes a lot more tricky (if you want to keep the content first). My goal with this theme was to keep it fast and simple. As a result, I had to make some trade-offs.
If someone can submit a really clean patch, I will definitely look at including it.

peterx commentedThank you for looking at the change. I switched to Foliage, http://drupal.org/project/foliage, as a quicker way to achieve the column layout. There are other parts of A3 Atlantis that I like and will look at A3 Atlantis for some other sites. The Blamcast tabs are neat. I like the way the text changes colour without the whole tab changing.
I also started experimenting with the jquery based superfish menu enhancement, http://users.tpg.com.au/j_birch/plugins/superfish/, for multi level primary links. I am wondering what CSS can do with multilevel menu and will keep A3 Atlantis plus a couple of other themes enabled to test menu presentation.
