It seems insane that I am asking this question because it seems like we should be able to do this already. I see it in the Drupal blocks on left, parent book pages with bulleted listed of the child pages under.

You know when you go into admin>content mgmt>books and you click on outline, you see the outline of the book in edit mode. Very cool. BUT, what about showing the full outline to the visitors of the site? Just a page with an indented list of the pages in the book, all as links.

Please tell me someone has done this and I am just not seeing it.

thanks

I just found booktree module but am still looking for a way to show the outline on a page. Outline module doesn't seem to be the solution.

Did you find a solution for this issue? I'm looking to achieve the same result.

no, not yet. I am not a coder so I was hoping someone had already had this great idea and was willing to share. If you find it, please come back and update this.
thanks

Given it has been a while since my last long it,maybe you have figured it out. But if not, you can access the booktree "view" using /booktree/#

for example: http://postharvesthub.vudat.msu.edu/?q=/booktree/11

The node for the book parent is node 11

The ability to show the full outline of a booktree as a page is built in to booktree.
for example:
http://voiceseducation.org/booktree
