a blocked user has a regular profile link issued by theme('username'). the problem is that if you follow the link, you get 'page not found' error.

In which way would a fix be desirable: a) not display a link b) make profile display work?

a) - one of the main reasons for blocking a user is that they post inappropriate content in their profile

Patch applies, but needs more work IMHO. The "Submitted by" link is still there if the user is blocked. The same is true for the content list in "admin/node", the link to disabled users is still there. There are probably more occurences...
