Hi,
One of my users has somehow screwed up a blog post, I can't figure out what he did. I'm hoping someone has experienced a similar problem.
He says he just edited his post, and hit save. I suspect there's more to it, but here is the result:
The page shows up as a Recent Blog Post, available within the Book outline, and in the Content administration pages, etc. What I mean is that Drupal still thinks the blog post is there. In fact, nothing I can do will remove it from any of these places. But when I click on any of the links to the post, I get "page not found." And there is a large "Unpublished" section on the blogs listing page. I have tried everything I can think of to get the post back, to no avail. I have even tried to delete it from content administration, but it won't go away.
Does anyone have any idea what could be going on with this post? Any suggestions appreciated.

I had this posted in the forums for a couple of weeks and no one responded, sorry to double post but I'm really desperate. The problem can be seen in these places:

This probably means either:
- that you have a node (in the node table) but the corresponding vid does not exists in the node_revisions,
- or that you have a node with a NULL nid (in the node table).

Please use phpMyAdmin to confirm one or the other hypothesis. The delete the infriging row or set the vid to one revision that does exist.

Please forgive my lack of knowledge, your response is just a bit over my head. I use a postgresql database, and have not been using phpMyAdmin to administer it. I'm sure this doesn't change the problem and what I should be looking for, but I'm not sure exactly how to go look for the things you are suggesting. I will do some research on node/vid/node_revisions and NULL id in node table, but any more information you might be able to provide or point me to would be greatly appreciated. Thanks very much for your response, it has been weeks since I have had any idea where to go with this problem.

THANK YOU!!!! I got a friend to help me with this and you were correct with the first suggestion: the VID and NID were different. Updated them and voila, all better.

This just happened again to another one of my users. Does anyone know what could cause a blog entry to be written to the postgresql database with a VID of 0?

Hi,
I have noted this kind of a disappearing act not only with a blog post, but also Page, forum and poll posts.

It happened with Drupal 6.3 which forced me to reinstall the CMS. Now I have installed v.6.4 today and the whole day I spent porting the contents of my Organization's static content to Drupal. At the end of the day I find that most of my work has gone into some black hole.

Clicking on the most menu/sub menu items returns, as well as, the Forum topic in the right side bar returns the following message,

"Page not found
The requested page could not be found"

I found the clue for this by a chance clicking on Recent posts under NAVIGATION in the left side bar.
It lists only the posts bearing my user ID. As I was re-posting the material from an existing site to the Drupal powered site, I cleared the author as well as the Date/time fields before publishing.

My suspicion is that, there is a Huge Bug lurking in Drpal which sends the posts with blank author info and/or the Date and time info into a black hole.

I don't know the nids or vids of Drupal and I have not used cck or Views on this site.

Hope this helps fixing the bug as well as warns people not to leave Author and time/date fields blank.
Hope, I am fairly accurate in my diagnosis.

This BUG has already been posted three weeks back, but, it appears that the DRUPAL world is going on merrily!

I have again got into the problem with another Drupal site.

Is there any help in sight? Has anybody else noticed the problem?

This is a PostgeSQL issue. Removing the author correctly sets the post to be by anonymous with MySQL.

alexanderpas, profjk, and ceejay2005 can you confirm that you are all using PostgreSQL?

Set as postgresql to get better eyes on this.

Are you still experiencing the issue? If so what version of MySQL?

I can not replicated the issue with a base install on MySQL. It works fine.

You said previously, that you were migrating data. Were you doing that manually or through the interface?

Drpal 6.3 and 6.4 (I have not tried to replicate it in v. 6.8, however)

MySQL 5.0.67
Migrating manually from from HTML pages to Drupal.

Please upgrade to 6.8 and test because I can not confirm in 6.8.

If you are migrating manually using SQL then you need to be fully aware of the Drupal DB structure and all fields and tables need to be set correctly. Simply putting info in the node table is not sufficient.

We fixed the insertion logic of node_save() somewhere in a point release of Drupal 6. I guess this issue is now closed.
