i currently have add this in my right sidebar and it appears fine when im signed in but when i sigh out it disappears. any help is greatly appreciated as the site will hopefully be live in 2 days.

Please check your permissions at admin/user/permissions. There is a permission called "view addthis" that is required in order to display the button. This is very likely the cause.
