trip search admin page not working properly

I am trying to make some changes to my advanced search via the admin section but they aren't working. I am trying to have only "content type" show up on the advanced search page. When I do this, it still shows all 3 (categories, user, content type) sections on the advanced search page.

When I select none of the three, it still gives me the categories section as well as another categories section but instead it labels the second one "filter by date and user".
