Hi
I have mentioned in previous post rthat I am new to drupal, I have found the the modules that I am wanting to use favor D5.10.
I have been testing 6.4 at the moment, just getting the feel for dupal.
How secure is drupal 5.10 on it own, whilst also been compared to 6.4?
What do you think about modules between these two version and availability?

Drupal 5.10 is as secure as
Drupal 5.10 is as secure as 6.4, and it has been updated recently.
When you choose modules for 5.10, it is a good idea to check their project page and their issues queue to see if they are in active development and if there is any work going on for a 6.x version, because next year 5.x will not be supported any more and you will need to upgrade to 6.x.
Thanks Dude !!!!!!!!
Thanks for that,
because next year 5.x will not be supported any more and you will need to upgrade to 6.x.
Modules for 6 are a bit thin compared to 5, and no support for 5 next year bit harsh, don't you think?
That is true, but it can't
That is true, but it can't be otherwise.
When developers start working on their 6.x and 7.x modules they won't have much time to update their 5.x modules. Many of them already have been neglecting their 5.x modules for this reason, that is why you need to check the activity in their projects (or help if you can).
It is not a matter of community decision, it is just what people do, so you need to understand how it works and make your decisions accordingly.
I understand way
I do hear what you say, we do need progress.....and to drop one to work on another is how things work...
But everything seems to be for 5.x rather then 6.x, but as you say there will be no support for 5.x. Then the issue of add-ons will change as people move to develope for d6 then for D7 - and I bet that D8 is been talked about right now lol
Just that looking through the modules it seems a little off balance comparing 5.x to 6.x, maybe am wrong but for what I have been looking for, its quite basic and every time I look its for D5.x and am running D6.4. Maybe things are in a void right now and given a few months things will change.
Thanks for you input, it has given me food for thought, thankyou
