What patch to apply? What query to execute?

Hi,

I am new to this module and wanted to start using it on a site, however, I am a bit confused of what are the steps I should take to have the best search settings.

I read both the module' settings and the release notes of the version, I read through the issues mentioned on both places but each has a lot of patches so I thought it would be good to have it documented at least what are the patches that are somehow reviewed or properly tested to be used with this module.

I am also not sure what queries i should execute, I noticed that INDEXES that should be created and also noticed that the release note states that they are now executed in the install file, but I looked at the file and those QUERIES are only executed if I have a table called search_node_links which I know it also mentioned on another issue with a lot of patches as well.

So I am a bit lost of what should I do to have a well setup views_fastsearch module, any help would be more than helpful.

I am using drupal 5.10 at the moment. I think for now I am just going to execute the queries that add the indexes to the search_index table.
