the drupal.org search does not work on "page not found" and "access denied" pages
repro:
1. goto http://drupal.org/asd
2. search for "drupal"

I can confirm this bug in separate 5.x site so it's not drupal.org specific and should be moved to the search.module queue.
It is possibly a duplicate of one of several issues in the search module queue though none jump out at me.

How about http://drupal.org/node/74554 and http://drupal.org/node/67648 (though I only scanned the issues)? I thought someone else reported this in the Webmasters queue a month or two ago, but I'm not finding it now.

Also d.o. is currently on 5.x and there are no reports that I can see as yet of this in 6.x, so changing version.

From a quick test, it is present in both 5.x and 6.x.
