My links are still dofollow even though I chose whitelist and then listed my own domain

Afaik it works fine but is tricky to configure which makes it appear to not be working.

Did you configure the input format filters to include this module? Does the problem affect new content created with an input format which uses this filter?

I got it working but links from within my own site are nofollow even though I added my site to the whitelist

It seems to be working for some folks - this isn't enough info for me to really diagnose your problem.

I like this module a lot, it would be even better if there were a README.TXT, with some instructions, like:

Configuration
------------
Enable the Nofollow List filter at admin/settings/filters -> Filtered HTML

Add the URLs you want to either white- or blacklist at admin/settings/nofollowlist
