Problems with forum

I have installed node comment en node forum but have lots of problems with the forums...

1) When i enable node comment and node forum and go to my forums. I see the general overview but when i click a forum i can not see any topic. The list is empty...
When i try to add a topic, i don't get the dropdown for choosing a forum...

2) When i disable the node comment and node forum module (and uninstall them) and create new containers and forum i don't get the link to add a new topic. He always sais i don't have enough permissions to add a topic. However i am logged in with user 1... and all the forum rights are set correctly.
I also notice that the node comment and node forum don't have access right settings in the list... they appear with their name in the access right page but they don't have any options... is this normal?

So.. how can i get the forums back to work? With or without the node comment, it doesn't really matter...
