hello,
stumbled upon the following site and would like an opinion if something else might find this useful.
http://www.ringsidenetworks.com/
It an open source social networking application server.
My initial opinion is that the combination of drupal and ringside might be something very very powerful. Ringside might be the engine to server up drupal content to any social networking site as an social networking application. From what I understand, you should be able to create the application once and share the drupal content on either an open social site or a facebook application. This model sets the ringside server to almost be the middleware between different applications that can be consumed on any web site (in theory).
The real power appears to be in the ability to create an social application that allows for "Cross Network Identity Mapping". http://wiki.ringsidenetworks.org/display/ringside/Cross+Network+Identity...
Based on this feature, you hypothetically could create a drupal site that incorporates both open social and facebook apps.
Please let me know what you think...

Interesting stuff indeed
This is cool stuff indeed. We've had a few conversations with the Ringside team to explore ways of integrating Drupal with their solution. I would be very interested to hear from the rest of the community about the potential they see for Ringside technology on the current Drupal sites they are working on. What are the primary use cases you see?
