When a user clicks "my account" it only displays:

History
Private messages:
send private message
Member for:
[and the avatar]

In order to edit the full profile, they must manually type "/edit" at the end of the address.

I have search the forums, tried turning off any suspect modules, looked at all the settings, roles, and access but cannot locate the issue. I do have clean urls enabled and that seems to be is functioning.

Have I missed something or is this a bug? Users will obviously want to periodically return to their profile to make adjustments, so how to I forced the link from my account to go directly to the edit page?

I don't know PHP, so if I need to change anything in the code, I'll need pretty clear instructions on what lines to change and in which files.

I'd really appreciate any ideas since hit a brick wall now.

The edit links should show up as a tab, when you click "my account", if you're not seeing the tab, you might want to check "access control" for permissions, and perhaps the theme you are using as well.

Don't click this link if you don't know Farsi!

Thanks for taking the time to reply but as I mentioned above I have checked:

The permissions, roles, and access
Tried turning off any suspect modules
Checked the site and module settings

Also, since I am able to call up the edit tab by manually typing /edit at the end of the address, it doesn't sound like it's an issue with the access control.

What else could this be?

Do any other tabs show for any other pages? Do the tabs show when you go to user/xx/edit? If not, it could be a theme issue.

Yes, the tabs show when I manually enter http://example.com/user/x/edit. The tabs also show when log in as administrator.

I'm not sure what you mean by the other pages with tabs. I only see tabs under "My account" and the Admin pages.

My theme is box_cleanslate-custom and I have customised the CSS.

I also just tested every option under access control to see if allowing any of the options makes the user/x/edit tab visible. Nothing worked, even full admin privileges.

Then I tried changing the authenticated user to administrator in the user's profile. Not even that worked. The edit tab still was not visible for the user.

The edit tabs are visible for administrators and moderators. Authenticated users don't link to the tabs.

This is really baffling, I can't isolate what the problem is for the authenticated users.

I think I'm onto something now. The tabs are not showing in IE but are in Firefox.

Does anyone know why so I can fix it?

Thank god for this forum discussion or I would never have figured out the problem: http://drupal.org/node/10610

It was an IE bug to do with floating

tags.

I just put the following code in the CSS and it was fixed:

ul, ol, dl {
position: relative; }

Now you know why Internet Explorer is the Antichrist.

Glad to hear you solved your problem. :-)
