Is there a guide on how to use the water mark mod? Can someone write it for 6x, or link a guide to creating an alpha channel picture, I think that might be the problem

easyfroob commentedI made a forum post with all of the specifics here: http://drupal.org/node/303709
Copied here:
I can get the images to watermark themselves if I upload the picture first, THEN go to the picture, edit, and apply watermark.
I cannot get drupal to automatically watermark my uploads during upload.
I have checked the website AND browser cache, reset both and checked again, no difference.
My settings:
I am using GD2 in my image toolkit.
My image watermark settings are in this JPG: http://stfuplease.com/watersettings.jpg (image is optimized for web)
My actual watermark (copied from its home dir to root) http://stfuplease.com/water2.png
My folder permissions are:
/sites/default/files is 777
/sites/default/files/images is 777
/sites/default/files/images/temp is 777
Drupal 6.4

sgriffin commentedHas anyone gotten this module to work against D5?
marcolam commenteddoesn't work for me neither.
i install watermark in two sites,enable it,upload a PNG file,config the module.
then add an image node.but nothing happens.no errors,no watermark, just like it never exists.
site1:drupal 6.4 watermark 6.x-1.x-dev Image 6.x-1.0-alpha3,PHP Version 4.3.10-19,GD2
site2:drupal 6.3 watermark 6.x-1.x-dev Image 6.x-1.0-alpha2,PHP Version 5.2.0-8+etch10,GD2
but i got it work a couples of months ago(site 1 ,drupal 5).

kbahey commentedDoes everyone agrees with marcolam? Can we conclude that this is an issue with version 6.x only, and that 5.x works?
sgriffin commentedI didn't get it to work with d5 either.

marcolam commentedToday I setup a new site with only two additional modules installed:image and image-watermark,
This time I can see "Apply watermark" when adding a new image node, but encounter the same problem easyfroob had: I have to save the node first and goto edit to apply the watermark.
Site info : drupal 6.5 watermark 6.x-1.x-dev Image 6.x-1.0-alpha3,PHP Version 4.3.10-19,GD2

fang27 commentedI tried the same thing with D5.11 - doesn't work, even when I go back to "edit" and apply the watermark.
BTW - when I go back to edit, it shows "watermark" unchecked even though it was checked when I created the image. I check it, save, and go to the image. No watermark. Go back to edit, and "watermark" is unchecked.

kbahey commentedDepending on some negotiation we are doing with a potential sponsor, we plan to rewrite portions of this module and make the watermarking more robust, so hopefully this problem may be solved in 2 weeks or so.
If this plan goes through, the fix will happen in a new 5.x version then ported to Drupal 6.x after that.

dutchie76 commentedohh goody - any updates on that? D6?

johnmgreaves commentedI'm having an issue with watermark as well. It is as though it doesn't exist. I can get the imagecache actions module to watermark an image, but it doesn't automatically watermark batch uploads. Will this module watermark uploads automatically? It doesn't seem to work at all. I have tried it on Drupal 6.6. 6.7 and 6.8
