Hi, I just installed 6.x-1.0-rc2 on Drupal 6.4, then went to the configure settings page and got the following error:
* The selected file /var/www/vhosts/magellantravelmarketing.com/httpdocs/sites/default/files/tmp/filetkCIT4 could not be copied.
* The selected file /var/www/vhosts/magellantravelmarketing.com/httpdocs/sites/default/files/tmp/filexMcUZT could not be copied.
Unable to add test file to your private folder. Unable to test security of your private folder!
I checked the permissions on the tmp directory listed above, and it seems OK: rwx rwx rwx . The permissions on the files themselves seems too restricted: rw- --- --- .
Any suggestions where to start investigating how to resolve this issue?
Thanks in advance from a new Drupal / non technical admin.

elsvandeveire commentedThis works for me:
Delete
tmp
folder @this location:
sites/default/files/tmp
Create a new tmp folder in root (same level as e.g. sites or themes)
Create a new map in tmp called image
Go to admin/settings/image/image_import
change setting to:
tmp/image
