Hiya.
I really need private forums in Drupal 6 and TAC is the most obvious and logical way to do it. Can you tell me if the Drupal 6 dev snapshot is safe for me to use at all? Or should I steer clear and wait for a release candidate at the very least.
Ta,
Robin.

nottRobin commentedwell I've installed it and used it to make one forum private - by "deny"ing all permissions for roles "anonymous" and "authenticated user" and it seems to work so far without any errors.
So thank you very much :).
Robin.

kroimon commentedHow far is the 6.x version?
Are there plans to release a stable version 1.0 soon?
Would be great to get a more or less official statement on this :-)

glass.dimly commentedBe nice to hear something on this. This module is sort of key to lots of other modules, and also involves user permissions, which are essential. You don't want to mess with those. So what's the state of the dev branch?
If I were a cooler person, I would contribute by fixing bugs in the issue queue, but I'm still learning.

ñull commentedI experience some weird behaviour, reported here, so in my situation it doesn't seem stable at all. In fact I wished I would have set up my site with D5 instead; many D6 modules are still very unstable.

hanat commentedI'm new to Drupal and this is only my 2nd post to a module's issue. We're interested in going to Drupal 6 but are hesitant to go with TAC 6.x in the Development state.
I see a lot of folks entered "subscribe", "subscribing" in the comments above. Dumb question here -- are they subscribing to this thread? If so, how do I subscribe, too?

richard.e.morton commentedHi There,
As you have just posted to the issue thread, you are now subscribed.

giovannizero commentedLook into TAC Lite (http://drupal.org/project/tac_lite) its D6 compatible and will probably do what you need it to. Very similar to TAC.

cpugeniusmv commentedSorry guys, I got a new job a few months ago and this got put on the back burner. I promise I haven't been totally ignoring the issue queue, I saw a couple of patches uploaded recently that I plan to review very soon.
As far as stability goes, I don't know of any major problems with the module as it is now. Try it for yourself and, if something isn't working like you expect, post something here and we'll work it out together.
I'm hoping to skim over all of the open issues soon and figure out what (if any) blocking issues there are for a stable release, I'll post back here when I've gotten a better idea of how close it is.

Daniel Norton commentedI'm unemployed right now and could be persuaded to spend some considerable time on this.
As suggested above, I'm going to have a look at Taxonomy Access Control Lite to see if it meets my needs.

seanbfuller commentedAs far as I can tell, there are two big issues with the dev version for 6.x.
TAC does not properly handle node_revisions
http://drupal.org/node/399720
Results in taxonomy definitions going into limbo
Status: Patch exists and needs to be committed
TAC does not properly check the "create" permission
http://drupal.org/node/358175
Results users who should not be able to assign a node into a taxonomy being able to do so.
Status: No fix exists.
In our testing we have not seen any of the other 6.x issues in the queue. Are there others that would hold up a 6.x release?

glass.dimly commentedTaxonomy Access Control Lite does not integrate with the Organic Groups User Roles: http://drupal.org/project/og_user_roles. Therefore Taxonomy Access Control is essential for Organic Groups to access control for users in a refined way. I haven't found another solution. I think that you all are on point about this module being essential for D6.
seanbfuller commentedJust wanted to follow up on my #36 above.
Thanks to cpugeniusmv for making some time to check in on some of the issues in the queue. He applied the patch for TAC not properly handling node_revisions (http://drupal.org/node/399720) and gave an answer/commit about configuration options that solved our issue with the "create" permission (http://drupal.org/node/358175).
With the big two issues that I had uncovered in d6 being potentially solved, I'm wondering what's left that would keep a beta release from happening.
Thoughts?

I'm following this one too. Seems to be the only module that does exactly what I need.

Interested in this to use with Organic groups, seems like TAC Lite doesn't quite do it.
