I had a view set to use custom dates...and it worked just fine....but now it is showing a date like this:

"20efamuWednesday31"

If I set it back to the other settings, "Short Date" for example, it displays the date properly.

And no matter what custom date codes I use, it shows this same format above...I wonder what happened? or what a fix would be.

I'm not making changes to the 5.1 version. I'm officially recommending you move to the 5.2 version now. If you have problems in that version you can check for existing issues or add new ones. Feature requests are now getting posted to the D6 version to be back-ported to 5.2.

Views handling in 5.2 is much improved.

Got the same issue after upgrading to the date-5.x-2.3 module.
