Great module.

1. Would it be possible to set terms where if they were found, a certain vocabulary term would be assigned? ie. forcing the module to choose the right term.

2. Could user conditions be added?

Sorry I don't understand the question.
1. Is what the module is designed to do, using synonyms
2. Can you give an example of a user condition?

1. Well, it's not quite the same as using synonyms.

eg. Let's say you have two vocabularies:

Vocabulary 1 (Type). Terms: Telecommunications, Computers, etc
Vocabulary 2 (Age). Terms: New, Year, Outdated

You have videos/stories coming in a lot about the eeepc. Autocategorise will hit it with 'Computers' if you make 'eeepc' a synonym to 'Computer'. But would you also make 'New' a synonym? No. You don't want anything that has the word "new" in it to get tagged with 'New'. Titles "New Year's Day" (could get tagged with both 'New' and/or 'Year'), "Old Phone with New Feature", would all be tagged with 'New'. You also want other words to be labeled as new.

This isn't a perfect example but there are many times where you don't want a word that many meanings or implications to get tagged.

So do you mean one should add synonyms for everything you want as new? It doesn't seem prudent. If there instead were forced rules, you can add (and filter) words from taxonomy tagging.

2. If the user is Fred, tag with 'Term1'. If the user is Adam, tag with 'Term2'.

I understand better, but not completely.
I think you're asking for something harder and different than I intended in this simple module, and I think questions 1 and 2 are essentially the same.
With your 'new' example, no, this module wouldn't work for that.
