access controls not working

I installed the module, went to content type -> page->access control I enabled them.
I checked the box by allow node level permissions
I check the box to allow anonymous users view access for default permissions

I then granted permissions to authenticated users to one of my pages.

I now cannot access any of the pages. I don't have another access control module installed.

I would really like to have some pages accessible to only authenticated users while others are allowed freely, your module seems to fit the bill, but this behaviour seems odd.

content access 5.X1.4
If needed, I can give you a list of other modules
windows xp, php 5.2, mysql5.x...nothing in the logs but access denied.
