Description

As mentioned in #114804: Integrate with Organic Groups, splitting Guestbook into guestbook (core), guestbook_site, and guestbook_user modules will open up further possibilities for integration with nodes, organic groups, and other modules. As a side benefit, this will also lead to much cleaner code, and end-users will be able to enable exactly the functionality that they need.

Looking forward to this.

I run roleplay sites where each person can have one or more characters. Right now most people either create logins for each of their characters, or list all of their characters in their signatures or profiles. It would be nice to hook guestbooks to the "character" content type node and make it so people only need one login to interact with all of their characters.

Since that probably made no sense to anyone unfamiliar with roleplayers, here's a more concrete example using actors (users) and roles (characters) from the movies Pulp Fiction and Star Wars Episode III.

If actor Sammuel Jackson wants his character Jules Winnfield to leave a comment on John Travolta's character Vincent Vega's Guestbook and also have his character Mace Windu leave a comment on Ian McDiarmid's character Supreme Chancellor Palpatine's Guestbook, then he'd have to create 2 different login accounts at present time, or just have Sammuel Jackson leave the comments himself, and people will just have to remember that he's representing Mace's point of view in one and Jule's on the other.
