When you create an event for volunteering you have to base the start and end time of the event on the time zone settings of the host server in order for your volunteers to receive reminders about the event on time. There needs to be description text added under the Preview & Submit buttons on the Submit event page (accessible at home >> create content >> event >> submit event) to explain this. (I will add a feature request later about configuring volunteer so that event message deliveries are based on the admin's client time zone settings)

Initial Conditions
1. Volunteer module must be enabled in http://civicrm.civicspacelabs.com/home/admin/modules

Steps
1. Create content: http://civicrm.civicspacelabs.com/home/node/add
2. Add a new event: http://civicrm.civicspacelabs.com/home/node/add/flexinode-1
3. Scroll down to the [Preview - Submit] buttons

Suggestions
1. Under [Preview - Submit] add the following description text,

"To receive event reminders and follow-ups in a timely manner, event start and end times should be set according to time zone of host
server. To determine the real time of your host server, contact your system administrator or look at the default date and time entered
in the Send date: fields on the mass mailer Compose Message page."

2. In the write up above, "Send date: fields on the mass mailer Compose Message page" should be hyperlinked to -- http://civicrm.civicspacelabs.com/home/admin/massmailer/message/send

Deferring this defect since Gerhard is trying to fix the Time Zone issues with Massmailer and Volunteer.. Once these issues are resolved, there is no need to add disclaimer text to the UI about the host server's time zone settings..
