There doesn't seem to be a way to change the default input filter by role for comment input.
Ideally, there would be different defaults for each node type's comment input. But just having comments in the "node type" selector would be nice.

This looks like a legitimate bug in this module -- I'm having the same issue.
If you really want to be able to set the input format for each node then there's another module that might work better for you called (confusingly enough): Filter Default. That module is supposed to let you control input formats at the node level, so users can have varying default formats by node.
I prefer the simplicity of this module -- the other one requires a lot of extra configuration (with great power comes a lot of extra work!).

Not so much a bug in the module so much as it is a feature request. Irrespective, it's definitely needed. Can we get this added in? (I'd be happy to contribute a patch if nobody else is working on it).
