Actually I am a lover of Joomla!. I have my own site done with joomla. http://www.pyramidgrafix.com.
Comparing to Joomla, Drupal is efficient and development time one fourth of Joomla. From now on I am goint to use Drupal.

I would add a blog and start blogging away on graphics topics. That way you have more content and the search engines can find you. Readers to your blog will find the gallery by accident and before you know it you will have a user populated gallery...

I am a novice user of joomla looking to convert too... I love SEO links and subcategories and the fact u can make a blog site easier with drupal...

Did you have to move the site over to Joomla? The source code says it's a Joomla site?

As a former Mambo user the links look like Mambo or Joomla links...not Drupal. True?

Yep-- it's not drupal. It's now joomla + a canned rockettheme theme.

As I was doing Arch Viz project, my colleagues at my office who are fond of Joomla, changed that site to joomla. I have instructed them to do the site in Drupal with more interactive modules. They are programming now. Soon, Drupal site will be installed.
