hi,
just wondering, does this module only works with the search module ?

Yes and no.
It actually assumes that search module is active, but it should be so.
the module should be independent of the search module, in two ways:
- allow other modules to define what goes into top searches counters (for example: views filters)
- still show the top searches, even when search.module is off (historical searches)
