I only can find free extensions for joomla, but none for drupal :(

Ecommerce or Ubercart
I haven't implemented paid memberships myself, so don't have hands-on experience. But from other questions I've seen on the topic, I believe the usual advice from pros is to use the Ecommerce or Ubercart sets of modules.
Either one is a meant for a wide variety of ecommerce applications, and so will require some work to set up for a specific use. But I think I've heard that paid memberships are one of the tasks they can handle.

I have seen reference to the "Ecommerce modules" in several threads but have not been able to find them. Where does one find them?

Follow up: I found them! From this Drupal site go to the download tab above and then click on "Modules" in the Project Type list.
The LM Paypal Module also
The LM Paypal Module also handles memberships, but only for version 5.x I believe.

Warning
I have been struggling with E-commerce for about a year now to develop a paid membership-site and though I even sponsored the development of a payment gateway I still have no functional site yet (the ecommerce part I mean, the rest of the site works wonderful). There are many many problems, e-commerce is barely documented and support is nonexistant. Enormously time consuming and very disappointing.
Have no experiences with Ubercart.
