I've had a reseller Hostnine.com account for several years and no complaints.

Currently, I have 12 websites on the account.(separate domains) I admin 4 of them, and users admin the other eight.

I only host the sites with user admins to do updates on their software and maybe make a few changes.

Hostine will not allow video scripts, FFMPEG, etc. on their servers at this time.

I think they'll do something about it before long. As it stands now, no go.

The only problem is:

Video replay and youtube kinda stuff is becoming more important on my sites. I'm working on a couple sites now.

The video does require alot more bandwidth, especially running from my site (no leeching).

I also have a site with downloads, and I've deliberately restricted file sizes. The problem is those sites aren't working out.

I really need to up the file sizes for up and downloads. The dl speeds have to be at least 150K avg.

I'd sure appreciate some suggestions links or pointers for a couple good webhost choices.

Thanks

I've done alot of research with a few choices narrowed down, but I'm still not 100% satisfied with the available choices.

Creating a youtube type site is a priority now, but I'm working with a non-profit and high bandwidth costs are out of the question.

Actually, the site shouldn't be a really bandwidth hog to start, but video playback still uses resources.

So I'm kinda in a quandry of choices. LOL

The FFPMG thing scares heck outta most hosting companies. I think probably, because they're overselling bandwidth.

Video is fast becoming the hottest thing for sites, so at some point the hosting has gotta catch up with economic alternatives.

Any feedback or suggestions to cheaper hosting that allows for streaming video would sure be appreciated.

Thanks

site5 offers ffmpeg as well as some other nice features like shell access and mutt (which i use to script the emailing of site backups, a very handy feature). I've not used it so I'm not sure at what point they'll have a problem with cpu spikes and/or bandwitdh however. But, unlike with most hosts, at least you can try it out.

Overall I'm very satisfied with them-- every single ticket I've submitted has been resolved within a day by seemingly competent techs (a rarity in itself) who actually understood my request from the original post.

DISCLAIMER: i'm not associated with site5 in any way-- just a very satisfied customer.
