If you want to get a View to output XML in 5.x, I suggest you guys look into the 'Views Datasources' module (strange name) for a temporary solution. I'm currently using it on a few sites and it's quite solid.

However, a specific module for outputting XML is important as a standalone module; As the 'Views Datasources' module will add some clutter. Also, the features that you may expect are absent.
