First I would like to thank all of you in advance for looking at this post and taking some time to respond to me.
I am currently working with a web designer who brought to my attention Drupal as a solid CMS that will allow me to develop the e-commerce capability that I need as well as maintain my marketing by having a fully dynamic website through the use of the Drupal CMS.
However, I was recently informed that it would be an "integration nightmare" and cost me an exceptional amount of money to accomplish the integration of the Drupal e-Commerce system. They, the designers, made it seem as though I would run into a problem where it would take far too many hours and not fully be worth me reinvesting into the website to change directions in order to have the best of both worlds; beautiful CMS and excellent e-Commerce.
The site they have developed for me has e-Commerce capability and is dynamic in the sense that I can add and change products but is does not have an easy content management system which is important in this day in age. Now it is a possibility that they are recommending staying course because they want to sign me on as a retainer client for updating content and the like. So I am venturing into the Drupal community to ask you, my dear friends, how complicated it really is to integrate the e-Commerce once the website is already set up on Drupal.
I am looking for approximation of the amount of hours that it would more than likely take to set up e-Commerce as well as some bids for integration. I hope I am posting in the correct section for this.
With Deep Appreciation,
Jason

I think I replied to the wrong post. :(
I've done one e-commerce site for a friend. It was my first e-commerce site. It took me about 2 months total time, but it was in reality only about 20 hours work. It took so long due to my schedule and learning how things went together and worked (payment gateway as well as the cart itself). For someone with Drupal experience I would think it would be a lot less of a learning curve than I had. The site was strictly digital downloads but the cart also did tangibles with shipping, taxes, etc.
I used the Ubercart system and Drupal 6 when I created that one.

Skip,
Thank you so much for you reply. I have come to understand that this endeavor is not really has difficult as my web designers had originally led me to believe last night. I am extremely happy that you took some time to get back to me, assisting me with an answer that was eagerly needed and enormously helpful.
With Deep Appreciation,
Jason

Not as complicated as you think !
Hey Jason,
Drupal is definitely a good direction if you are looking for easy content management. I don't believe that integrating your website would be a nightmare contrary to the web experts have toled you. Once integrated into Drupal, adding the e-Commerce aspect to your website shouldn't be very difficult. I would be more then happy to discuss the approximate amount of hours this project may require.
Please take a look at our website which contains some of our portfolio items. www.80elements.com. Do not hesitate to contact me via skype if there are questions that you may have?

Estimate to Integrate Basic Drupal
Dear Colleagues,
I currently have a community website in place and have not yet worked with Drupal. I am a proficient software developer. Can I please get a ballpark number of hours to integrate this product from your experiences? I simply require the ability to allow different user groups to upload files to a private page, and to have these files archived.
Thanks much,
Therese
