Little Tennessee Watershed Association

Hi everyone. I just launched the re-designed Little Tennessee Watershed Association website. LTWA is a small non-profit conservation organization that focuses on protecting the Little Tennessee River. I built the site with Drupal 5.10 because some of the modules weren't ready for 6 yet. Most of the modules I used were straight out of the box except for some minor modifications here and there and theming. I added a new region for the membership and volunteer "buttons" at the top right, although it probably would've made more sense to add the buttons directly to my page.tpl.php, since they most likely won't change. And I themed the search box with a search-theme.tpl.php file. The photo at the top is a swf file that randomly selects a photo from an xml file and adds the photographer's credit.

Looks AWESOME!

This site really really looks nice.

I love the water effect over the picture. I've never seen anything like that before.

When I go to the contact page a pop comes up saying "Request for invalid marker set big blue!" Maybe a Google Maps thing?

Other than that, this is a super example of how a little Drupal can go a long way.

What Theme did you start with? You should consider making your revision available to the community. You've done some great modifications.

Thanks for the heads up. I didn't exclude the gmap marker scripts from JS Aggregator, so they didn't get included in the aggregated js file since they only load on the contact page.

And thanks for the compliment on the theme :) It belongs to the Little Tennessee Watershed Association so I can't release it to the public, but I am working on a free theme. I think I started with Garland. I've been using the same modified theme for several projects for over a year and it's evolved quite a bit, but I know I started with a core theme.

how did you get the image to change?

Could you give us an idea of how you got the image at the top of the page to change when someone moved to other page or refreshed the page?

Thanks,
Becky

It's a swf file that uses actionscript to randomly pick an image from an xml file and display the photo with a caption. When the page is refreshed it randomly picks another image. It's not set up to be modified by the user. The photos and captions are "hard-coded" into the xml file.

Cool. Thanks for the info. Out of curiosity, do you know a good way to make a news trickle in drupal?
