I wonder if there'll be in future possible to replace drupal tabs with those YUI, like with YUI buttons?

That is good idea. But tabs are nok like buttons. When we are talking about tab that means we have to load all the tabs to achieve your suggestion. Currently the tabs in drupal are just link. May be we have to discuss it.

Doesn't the "quick tabs" module do this already? What is the difference between using the various other methods of creating tabs (ie the views method, or the quicktab method, etc) and YUI TabView method? Ie. why use this as opposed to other methods for creating tabbed pages?

Quicktabs module doesn't replacing drupal tabs.
How the progress in developing this module, is this possible to do? since that would be very neat feature.
