Based on the project description, I think there should be a dependency in the .info file for the core statistics module.

Yes. Statistics may not technically be a dependency but this module doesn't make a lot of sense without it and one of the menu items extends a menu item created by statistics module.

I've assigned you CVS access, pls go ahead and apply. While you're at it, could you add the dependency on the taxonomy module?
