Description

It would be really great if the marketplace had some way of splitting out the shipping charge.

Almost all of the products our sellers will have will be physical and range from key rings to room dividers made out of bits of aeroplanes so the shipping costs will vary greatly..

Currently Amazon marketplace calculates shipping for each seller the customer purchases from and then passes this on to the seller. This would be ideal for us and we would set the rates used to calculate shipping. I can see something around the package type being a potential to base this on with each user having a different package type, as we do not use this function, however others might so something separate would probably be better.

A more advanced shipping system is definitely something I would like for Ubercart Marketplace 2 (and Ubercart 2). To simplify things at the start, I decided on an approach that relies on the seller adding their own shipping charges to the product price. The store could then offer "free shipping" (as sellers would be paid for their costs, anyways), or make shipping rates fixed and take the extra money as profit. Unfortunately, at the moment I think this is the approach to take.

First of all, thank you for the great contribution, Turgrid! I am trying to build a site using the Marketplace module.

I tested the Flatrate shipping module with the Marketplace module and was faced with the same problem.

Turgrid suggests setting shipping rate free and that is the approach to take. But I wonder if it is possible to prevent customers from adding multiple sellers' products to a cart. This way, shop administrators can set default flat shipping rates for particular regions and sellers can adjust them to their own rates, without worrying about the shipping calculation problem, I guess.

I hope someone has already done this and can share the way to do it.

Does anyone managed to split the shipping fees between vendors?
Do you know if this fix is in the 2.0 roadmap?

tahnk you for your help

I worked on something similar to this with a recent client and have found an approach to take to better handle vendor shipping rates. Since it seems each Marketplace user has their own idea of how they want such features implemented, I think I will leave it as a custom modification. Sponsorship could be discussed, or I can tweak Marketplace to fit a specific user's needs. PM me if you are interested in my service.

Hi Turgrid ,
Basically, I need 2 features in marketplace in order to lauch my site:

-I need to have the shipping charges allocated to each seller and added to their product commission.

-I use multiples flat rates + workflow-ng to calculate shipping charges per item based on destination country.
I have flat rates set like this : local rate / EU rate / Rest of the world rate.
As I have seller from multiples countries, I need the local rate to be selected when the seller country and the delivery country are the same.

Do you think that it is possible to do it?

thank you,
terry
