Can you add the feature to show a bar of the current day?

I'm not planning on adding new features to the Drupal 5 version as I'm focusing on getting the module released for Drupal 6. However If someone else implemented this feature in a configureable manner I'd be happy to commit it for D5.

This is exactly what I need also. This would be extremely helpful for when you have the "Initial date focus:" set to "The current day."

you can do it with both 6.x versions of the module. Older versions aren't supported anymore. Sorry.
