I've looked through the api example but I'm not really sure what to do. Maybe an example of how to sync stories or pages from one server to another would be enough to get me started.

DataSync for Drupal 6 has a good example here: http://drupal.org/project/datasync_feedapi . I will be working on
another example that I can release in the next couple weeks. At this point, I would not recommend using DataSync for Drupal 5 unless you are willing to really look into the code and understand it. I would love help with testing for Drupal 6 though, so please open issues for any questions you may have.
