Will you be adding an element to upload an image with this solution, or is there already a way to do it that I'm just not aware of?

When you say "adding images", I'm assuming you mean adding them into the MP3 file itself, as an ID3 element, correct?
If so, adding images and ID3 tags into the actual MP3 file from right within the node/add or node/edit screen is something I'd like to do in the larger scheme of things. This wouldn't be part of the FFPC module itself, since that module is a Views plugin. However, it's something that needs to be part of this podcasting 'recipe' as a whole.
The plan is to develop a Filefield ID3 module which would do exactly this. It would allow you to add images and ID3 information into the file in a similar way to how audio.module does it. Stay tuned in the coming months for that module. If I can free my developers up to do it, it will happen before the end of the year.
These are all pieces in a larger puzzle that I'm building to make podcasting very flexible, using CCK/Views/Filefield as the basis for all of it. Thanks for the input!

Just an update. The idea at this point is to add this functionality to the existing filefield_meta module. If we develop a patch, I'll post a link here to our patch in that module's issue queue.
