I recently finished phase one of the Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art website. When I started this project there was very few of the modules I wanted to use that were not in beta stages for 6.x. So I went with 5.x. This is by no means my first drupal site, but I am very proud of this one. I spent a bunch of extra time making it extra easy to add and update content. Of course drupal is great at this already, but I found out that much planning goes into making the process painless for users that are new to all of this. The staff at the Nerman was quick to learn content management tasks and things are running smoothly so far. Already making a list of improvements for phase two. Some features that are ready have not been rolled out yet, so be sure to check back. The last 14(or so) years of JCCC artwork will be added to the site in the near future.
Some of the modules I used are:

I had a wonderful team of people at Johnson County Community College that created the server environment that this site runs on as well as provided some Javascript and PHP support. The Nerman Museum Staff was essential in providing me the feedback on the design that really made the final site look great. The Drupal community of course added support with theory and bugs.
Special thanks to Greg(you know who you are).
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

I am in the process (very early process) of redesigning a museum site as well. I wanted to see if I can pick your brain for ideas. I am very new to drupal but eager to learn. I looked at what you did for Newman Museum of Contemporary Art and it looks in line with what I am proposing as well. The museum I am helping is the Art Museum of Southeast Texas
