when the term begins with a dot (.), it is not listed in the block settings

Description
I have a term that starts with a dot, ".NET Development". It is not listed in the block settings (other terms are listed).
When I set a parent for this term, it changes to "-- .NET Development" and is shown in the block settings. However, I don't want to use this fix, because there's no real parent for it (unless you suggest something).
